Glaciers is an abstract work completed in 2014. The variety of marks were made with a combination of brushes and palette knives. The paint is built up to give texture and depth to this painting which was created to create a sense of calm in the midst of chaos. A difficult time for me as an artist, I was at a low point and was struggling mentally to cope. Painting without reservations in this messy and intense way allowed me to express my feelings and create my own sense of control in a small way. I painted this in a small garage I was living in at the time.
